Biographie

Alida YMELE, is a Cameroonian artist who lives and works in Douala. She began to develop the artistic spirit from a very young age and tested by the death of her parents, she found refuge, peace and serenity in painting. Originally from western Cameroon, (rural and agricultural region), she comes from a family of farmers and housewives. In her work, she is interested in issues of precariousness, the fragility of humans as a whole and the daily lives of domestic women in their socio-professional world, as well as their difficulties in integrating into current society. Indeed, she expresses herself through the breaks that she designs, then photographs them and gives them an aesthetic aspect according to her primitive emotions, the portraits of women found on the web and sometimes through her self-portraits. She holds this love for the portrait of one of the great masters of the 19th century: "Vincent VAN GOGH" who defines him as the element that holds the thoughts and soul of the model. Very enthusiastic and passionate, she won two postal art prizes in Venezuela in 2017, including an honorary mention and in 2019, she obtained a professional Master in Plastic Arts at the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Douala. Followed by the artist Jean David NKOT since 2017, she also courts workshops of Cameroonian artists such as: Jean Jacques KANTE, Salifou LINDOU, Hervé YOUMBI and many others. In addition, she participates among many others in collective exhibitions, including the major ones: those of the collective "New Spirit 2019", "Woman Power" which brought together more than thirty women artists from all over the world in November 2018 and that of "Iglecia luterrena", Venezuela 2017, as well as "the Kai" and "Artuelles interferences" 2020 and finally "Wanda" (lights) in November 2020, organized by Rose la Brière de L'Isle on the opening of JAA-CAMEROON (young artists of the future-Cameroon).
